A presentation of the basic theoretical formulations of the enriched systemic perspective SANE-System Attachment Narrative Encephalon ® and the way these formulations are applied in training and supervising mental health professionals at the Training and Research Institute for Systemic Psychotherapy. The presenters are among the increasing number of systemic therapists and supervisors that have come to realize that humans organise their experiences by storytelling, and see therapy as a dialogue for forming coherent and meaningful narratives. Joining others in the field, the presenters have additionally informed their work by findings from attachment and neuroscience research. At the Training and Research Institute for Systemic Psychotherapy, mental health professionals are trained to conduct therapy with individuals, families and groups. Brief case examples will illustrate the type of questions trainees learn to ask themselves and their clients from a multiplicity of interrelated perspectives, proceeding from “mind to culture” and vice versa in the phrase of Jerome Bruner, or by “zooming in and out from neurons to neighbourhoods” in the phrase of Louis Cozolino. It will be discussed how training can affect trainees’ personal -aside from professional-development.
