Based on situations issued from our clinical practice at the specialised program for families and couples (Geneva University Hospital) and with illustrations by video recordings, we propose a reflection on the clinical interest of reflexive practices in therapy (i.e. reflexive questioning, co-therapy, reflecting team, etc.). During this workshop we will present an interview technique developed in our consultation (Auberjonois et al., 2011). We will also link the emergence of reflexive practices in the systemic family therapy with the sociological contemporary family trends marked, in most European countries, by a shift from a traditional family model (i.e. father acting as family chief) to a more egalitarian family model. This aimed to show how the directives practices and techniques of some of the family therapy fathers were related to the social context of the late fifties. We also want to exchange with participants on their way to use reflexive practices during therapy.
