RECOGNITION & TRAJECTORIES OF LIFE WITH/WITHOUT OR «BEYOND ALCOHOL»: OPPORTUNITY OF MEETING WITH THE OTHER IN TIME OF CRISIS

In the problematic of alcohol-addicted persons these themes of Recognition and Self-esteem are fundamental insofar as evocations of the devaluation of self-esteem, sense of psychic inconsistencies, of shame and perception of their affective deprivation are omnipresent in their speeches. These ideas appear in Georges’ sentences: «I’m feeling so alone, I’m nothing anymore. The others don’t care about anymore..» Beyond this cynical comments , we grasp all the difficulties encountered by the alcohol-addicted personnsto exceed this particular moment of that takes part in the process to break with alcohol. In this time of societal crisis how the family system can still be a place of resources when the family system itself is weakened by the current societal crisis? How, as therapits, can we promote thepossibility of a change allowing the persons to register in a trajectoryof life «out of alcohol»? How can we support the family system in this relational and interactional change, that means the process of «life beyond alcohol» (change of type II according to Bateson). These concepts of Recognition, sense of belonging, individual identity and family identity will help us as therapits for both: on modeling our vision of the world and evolving our interventions. Therapists and family will be in the same adventure of changing. And if «times are changing», then families too and therapits also...
