In couples in crisis, each member is asking something on the level of her/his official program while not being able to accept a positive change on the level of her/his world view.
What affects a member of a couple is not so much what the other one is doing, but how this affects and amplifies her/his painful word view.
The members of a couple are not aware that they are “protecting” the other’s world view from change.
Difficulties at the social and economic level can amplify couple crises as they are amplifying mental health problems in the larger population (cf. The book of Harvey Brenner : “Mental Illness and the Economy”).
